Halifax, Nova Scotia Irish Sessions

Sundays, 2-5 at The Old Triangle, hosted by Kevin Roach and Jane Lombard. Features Irish set dancers until around 4. The repertoire is traditional and the pace is very brisk while the dancers are going. After 4 the repertoire is more varied, migrating towards folk and bluegrass. Typically 3-6 musicians. Recommended for intermediate and advanced players.Tuesdays, 8-11pm at The Old Triangle, hosted by Seph Peters. Very interesting tunes and arrangements at this session. Not recommended for beginner players, but intermediate and advanced players should enjoy this one. 4-12 musicians typically. (don't play these tunes at this session!)Wednesdays, 8-10pm at The Lions Head Tavern, "Halifax Slower Sessions", hosted by Vince McMackin. The perfect place to get into the Irish session scene, learn and share some repertoire and meet some friendly musicians. All skill levels welcome. Anywhere from 4-15 musicians at this one.
